You can choose to buy green energy from the "BUY GREEN” page of the RenewTonawanda.org website. This is an easy way to use renewable energy without installing solar panels or wind turbine at your property. Each green kilowatt-hour is certified that it is generated from a renewable energy source.
One option is to sign-up under Sterling Planet’s Sterling Wind™ program to buy nationally sourced 100% wind energy regardless of your utility. You can choose to buy $10, $15 or $20 per month of wind energy, or choose to match 50%, 75% or 100% of your monthly use of conventional energy with all-wind energy. You will be billed separately from your utility company.
If you get a bill from NYSEG, you can choose to buy wind-generated energy from NYSEG under their NewWind Energy® program and have it billed directly to your monthly bill. You can choose how much to buy by monthly Kilowatt-hours or by how much you want to spend (as little as $5 per month).
If you get a bill from NationalGrid, you can also choose to sign-up with their GreenUp program and buy green energy from one of the participating GreenUp renewable energy companies. The charge will be added as a separate line item on your bill.
